Who are we? What do we do?

The York Japan Society was established in 2005 with the intention to create links between the Japanese community in York and local people with an interest in Japan.
We organise fun social events, cross-cultural exchange and language exchange partnerships.
Site updated on January 27th 2010

There will be a talk hosted jointly with York St John University on Japanese culture - a demonstration of traditional Japanese clothes including kimono, and a demonstration of ikebana (flower arrangement. Click the link on the left for details.
We are also going to visit Tokyo Joes - Yorks newest Japanese restaurant on Feb 21st. Meet there at 7.00 pm. See the Japanese Cafe link
Taiko practice will be held every 2 weeks, see the taiko page for details. There are also some workshops being held in the spring - email to get details.
