School visits

The members of the taiko drumming group also now do school visits and workshops for schools to promote taiko drumming and Japanese culture. These can take place as part of a school-wide "Japan Day", within the music department, or even include some language input for pupils as part of a language department activity.

We can do mini taster sessions lasting 15-20 mins, hands on workshops of 50 mins - 1 hr, or longer workshops culminating in a mini performance by the pupils.
Suitable for primary and secondary pupils.

Please contact us for more details.

Drums and Tanka

After the success of our Tanka and Taiko show at Friragate Theatre, we have been booked by York Theatre and Arts Performance company to do the show again at a fantastic venue, St Columba's church on Priory St in York.
If you missed the show a couple of weeks back, now's your chance to catch it again!

Thursday 18th April - Tanka and Taiko show
Kaminari UK have teamed up with prolific York poets Oz Hardwick and Amina Alyal to bring you 'Tanka and Taiko'!
An energetic show of both powerful and subtle rhythmic taiko beats entwined with thought provoking and epic Tanka poetry with special guests Michael Graham on Koto / s
Shamisen and Anna Plews on Flute / Shinobue!

"The group on stage are experts at what they do, and what they do is send a beautiful, thumping rhythm through the whole auditorium."
