A Fruitful DRAMA
DRAMA is the name of the Danesmead Residents And Meadow Association who enjoyed a fruitful autumn now that the apple trees planted on the meadow and known as Shona’s Orchard in memory of Shona Patterson, an officer of English Nature and interested in organic gardening , who died some seven years ago, has produced a really fine crop of apples.
A gate has been constructed to the orchard, provided by the City Council, and which was formally opened by the Sheriff of York, who also planted two pear trees to commemorate the occasion as a Millenium addition to the Meadow.
DRAMA has been instrumental in, not only providing a real asset to this part of Fulford, but also involving so many local residents and their children in a sponsored cycle ride for the under tens. This was a great success and raised £100 for the Meadow and a communal bonfire night was a part of the autumn activities.

Note
Danesmead Meadow was given to YNET by the builders of the estate , Beezer Homes, on what was the old Danesmead School fields. It is managed by a committee of local residents as a nature park and forms the focal point for community activities.
