Mayfields Nature Reserve

When property developers took over the old British Rail sidings and the former BR Staff Association Fishing Pond at Mayfield grove, residents and anglers feared that the pond would be lost. They approached YNET to ask for help. YNET helped them set up a campaign group, The Frields of Mayfield Pond, and helped campaign for the area to be kept.
The campaign was a success and the area is now being managed by the Friends, renamed as The Friends of Mayfield Nature Reserve.
Fishing contines in the pond, which has been restocked, anf the area surrounding has never looked better thanks to some excellent management and planting.
