Past events that'll surely happen again!!
Stillington Handicap 10km(18-07-06)
All the points have been won, the series is over. The traditional end of series jaunt round Stillington takes the format of a handicap race (slowest predicted time off first). Given the hot weather there will be a drinks station at 5km, and food served at the presentation afterwards.
Race start : 6:45pm
Venue: Stillington Cricket Field
Vest: Red & Black Acorn
Selby 10km(04-07-06)
The fifth and final counting race in the summer league series. Slightly confusing given it starts at Wistow (see map below), but this is as flat a run as you're going to get... PB country!!
Race start : 7:30pm
Venue: Wistow Primary school
Vest: Red & Black Acorn

Easingwold 10km (06-06-06)
Could the third race in the series be an omen (geddit???) for you? Well this pleasent countryside course has a hill into Crayke at around halfway but a lovely final 500m... What better way to spend a summer's evening could there be??
Race start : 7:30pm
Venue: Easingwold Centre (the start is 5 mins away & signposted)

Wiggington Festival of Sport (28-05-06 & 29-05-06)
Organised by White Rose Triathletes (as if running isn't tough enough they make it harder still by swimming and cycling beforehand!!) this year will consist of Road Races on 28th May (1km, 3km, 5km & 10km) and a National Class Duathlon (run-bike-run) on 29th May.
This is a seriously well-organised event at a location so close (Wiggington, just north of York) there is practically no excuse. Well worth targeting for any standard of runner.
Tadcaster 10km (23-5-06)
Second race of the series. I must admit to not knowing the route incredibly well.... (I'm usually injured at this time of year). A word to the wise - it's a fast start but the course has a nasty twist in the shape of a climb at approx 7km. Have fun!!
Race start : 7:30pm
Venue: Tadcaster Grammar School
Vest: Red & Black Acorn
Pocklington 10km (9-5-06)
First race of the series. The route starts outside Pocklington Rugby Club, runs out onto the main road (B1246) NE past the school. After approx 1km the runners cut left up the road towards the golf course. This is the main climb of the race as it winds its way to the village of Millington. Following the road left through Millington, there is another sharp climb before the field descends onto the flattest, longest straight in the region - a long drag back to Pocklington. Wonderful.
Race start : 7:30pm
Venue: Pocklington Rugby Club
Vest: Red & Black Acorn
Parlaaf (pairs relay) (31-12-05)
Meet at 10.20am at the race course for this low key race where a fast runner will team up with a steady runner.
I've been talked through this a few times but, being a bit thick, I can't quite describe how it'll work. However, the ever imaginative Andy Normandale will be on hand to ensure it runs like clockwork.
New Years Relays (02-01-06)
The classic Dave Paver production where teams of three (suitably time handicaped by the mastermind himself) run 1 x short leg and 2 x long legs on a suitably sticky/icey/slippy course on the Knavesmire.
Teams must be registered by 10.45am for an 11am start. Meet at the Hamilton Panthers pavillion on Knavesmire road. A nominal entry fee is asked for, about 30p (subject to inflation).
Knavesmire Brass Monkey (22-01-06)
Always fills up within approx 20 seconds of being advertised but as ever will prove to be a classic event.
Organised by our friends at Knavesmire Harriers Running Club to coincide with unseasonable sunshine and bitter cold, it can only come highly recommended.
