Early Years
The Club was born after a popular response to a local newspaper advert in October 1982 which asked for anyone interested in forming a "club for joggers," to meet at the Priory Street Centre a week later.
The club just grew and grew, eventually splitting into three groups. Beginners, steady runners and more experienced faster runners. A committee formed comprising of John Tattersall(present Chairman), Phil Ashurst, Des Farrell, Pat Forsyth, Hugh Lane, John Martin, Sandra McCormick, Mike Palmer, Jenny Robson, Colin Taylor and Rose Valario adopting the name Priory Street Panthers.
In 1997 the Priory Street Centre closed and the Club moved to its present home, Acorn Rugby League Club in Acomb, York. The new name reflecting the Club's position in the City.
