Our aims and objectives
York Geology Club seeks to promote and encourage the appreciation of geology. Open to all interested in geology, both amateur and professional, we aim to help our members to enjoy the countryside and coast, and increase their knowledge and understanding, by studying the geological processes that formed the landscape. We are affiliated to the Geologists Association.
We are a small club, with membership of all ages and levels of knowledge and experience. | |

Who Are We?
 | Chair Mark Gibson
Secretary Sheila Wilson
Treasurer Beth Peart
We are a mixed group of people both with and without formal qualifications or professional experience in geology. Our aim is to be accessible and to welcome members of all levels of knowledge and with varied interests in the field.
Our Winter lectures are informal and informative without being too technical. We have had everything on our lecture programmes from the history of Geology, the Geology of Assynt, Vulcanology and even the use of minerals in alternative therapy (with free samples of the therapies!).
